Flanagan's Pub. Blacklick, Ohio
There are a handful of things that don't necessarily scratch the itch when comparing Flanagan's to Pubs rated above a 9. For one, the Guinness pour isn't what you want to see, and on top of the pour, it comes served in a 16oz glass rather than a traditional sized pint.

H.M. Frank's. Jeffersonville, Indiana
This rustic little spot belongs to the same people that opened Pat O'Shea's across the river in Louisville. It's an inviting Pub, with sort of a "grab and go" culture to it.

The Irish Rover. Louisville, Kentucky
The Irish Rover may have done everything correctly, but I guess what I'm ultimately saying is that they didn't hit a homerun in regard to anything. It's sort of like when a single guy sees a cute, funny girl at the bar. Just because she's cute and funny, does that mean he has to try and marry her?

Molly Malone's. Louisville, Kentucky
Molly Malone was known as the "tart with a cart," as she traveled around town with a wheelbarrow. She was a fish monger by day and a prostitute at night who died at an early age from a heavy fever. There's no way that woman could have smelled very well.

A Juicy Nugget about Phil Castellini and the Reds Organization that You didn't Know Heading into the 2026 Season.
I went to Bristol for a media shoot before our "Speedway Classic" game at Bristol Motor Speedway against the Braves last season. During our trip, I shared a Guinness with the guy who runs media relations, and he told me something about Phil Castellini that I never heard from anyone before.Â

Flanagan's Ale House. Louisville, Kentucky
It's not that it's bad, it's just not good enough. Flanagan's offers many good things, but the two distinctively better Pubs across the street put a bit of a damper on the Flanagan experience.

O'Shea's World Famous Pub. Louisville, KY (Highlands)
As you sit at the main bar inside and place your head on a swivel, you'll notice many pleasant things. For one, if you look up, you'll see a beautiful skylight, bringing in sunlight from above which adds to the light coming in from the patio. You'll also capture an overhang of broken apart whiskey barrels (it's cool).

Clancy's Tavern & Whiskey House. Knoxville, TN
Knoxville created Mountain Dew as a mixer for moonshine. Did you know that? I didn't. It's also known as "The Underwear Capitol of the World," and "The Marble City," for all of the limestone laying around. The city rests along the water of the Tennessee River...

McCarthy's Irish Bar. Lexington, KY
McCarthy's poured its first Guinness in 1996. They pour them the right way, and they only ask for a $6 bill in exchange. Behind the bar, you'll find an above average whiskey and beer selection from across the pond, and you'll have no problem finding some local options, especially when it comes to Bourbon.

Molly Brooke's. Lexington, KY
The bar itself is a small horseshoe that holds about 12 people at full capacity. As the session grew, the bartender opened up a bit. We left on fun terms.
