132 Pubs and Counting

The Black Rose. Boston, Massachusetts.
If the Black Rose ever bellies up with the amount of foot traffic it gets, then you know the owners clearly screwed up. At this point, this place would almost have to purposely want to close if they ever shut their doors, because there are simply too many people who need food and a place to sit down in the immediate area.

McGeary's Pub. Albany, New York.
The bar itself holds a mere 30 ass cheeks, a few TVs, and an old wooden fridge that looks like it's been through a few life cycles. As you sit and watch TV and look around, you'll also find some old cereal boxes like Flutie Flakes.

The Banshee. Buffalo, New York
For a while, the locals knew the place as D'Arcy McGee's, but now it's being ran by a charismatic Irishman named Kevin. From the moment we bent our elbows at the bar to the moment we left, Kevin was constantly walking around the dining room, making sure every single person was having a good time and felt acknowledged.

P.J. McIntyre's. Cleveland, Ohio
P.J.'s is a Pub of the people, as they offer $3.00 20oz Mich Ultras on the regular and $3.00 Guinness during their "Irish Power Hour" on Fridays! Three flippin' bucks for a Guinness! Sign me the hell up. On a Friday, too? Lord.

Murphy's Pub. Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Murphy's slaps, and if you're spending the night in VA Beach then you need to hang out with the friendly locals inside this establishment.
I love that they have actual signage and legitimate decor on the walls. You'll find authentic maps of Ireland with surnames on it, and other things that you won't find in the chain restaurants.

Four Green Fields. Tampa Bay, Florida
If you're ever in the Tampa Airport, then I demand you to visit Fran. For your sake, because my life is so much better having shared an hour with this absolute gem of a woman, and I want you to experience it, too.

The Irish Rover. Louisville, Kentucky
The Irish Rover may have done everything correctly, but I guess what I'm ultimately saying is that they didn't hit a homerun in regard to anything. It's sort of like when a single guy sees a cute, funny girl at the bar. Just because she's cute and funny, does that mean he has to try and marry her?

Molly Malone's. Louisville, Kentucky
Molly Malone was known as the "tart with a cart," as she traveled around town with a wheelbarrow. She was a fish monger by day and a prostitute at night who died at an early age from a heavy fever. There's no way that woman could have smelled very well.

O'Shea's World Famous Pub. Louisville, KY (Highlands)
As you sit at the main bar inside and place your head on a swivel, you'll notice many pleasant things. For one, if you look up, you'll see a beautiful skylight, bringing in sunlight from above which adds to the light coming in from the patio. You'll also capture an overhang of broken apart whiskey barrels (it's cool).

Nora Mac's. Charlotte, NC
The city of Charlotte was incredibly small prior to the nineties, and then it exploded during the internet boom. Many of the buildings and architecture around the city were built at around the same time. A lot of buildings have the same style brick, windows, and overall commercial feel to them.

Clancy's Tavern & Whiskey House. Knoxville, TN
Knoxville created Mountain Dew as a mixer for moonshine. Did you know that? I didn't. It's also known as "The Underwear Capitol of the World," and "The Marble City," for all of the limestone laying around. The city rests along the water of the Tennessee River...

McCarthy's Irish Bar. Lexington, KY
McCarthy's poured its first Guinness in 1996. They pour them the right way, and they only ask for a $6 bill in exchange. Behind the bar, you'll find an above average whiskey and beer selection from across the pond, and you'll have no problem finding some local options, especially when it comes to Bourbon.

Corcoran's. Chicago, Illinois
A charming Pub in Chicago who does a great job developing the Craic from behind the bar. Beautiful colors, light fixtures, and ceilings are just a few notable assets that make this one of the best out there.
