Today's Dedicated Pint: Dylan and Hayley. Ya'll done did it.

Sometimes, nothing hits harder than a fun dive right in the middle of downtown. Durty Nelly's here in Boston offers you that perfect little snug inside one of the most foot trafficked streets throughout the city. It sits smack dab in the middle of Haymarket and Faneuil Hall. Haymarket, by the way, is an open-air fruit and vegetable market that's been around well before the Civil War. Durty Nelly's hasn't been around that long, but it's been pouring the black stuff for over a decade.

The Pub has two floors. The first one is open every day and offers patrons a casual, intimate atmosphere that's perfect for storytellers. It's filled with police patches and old wall hangings, and the walls have fun blue/seafoam green accents to them. I'm not going to lie, you're going to find a few mass-produced signs on the walls that look like something you'd buy at Hobby Lobby which sucks (there's a picture of one below). The second floor provides a more lounge-type vibe with fine furniture, great ceilings, and another fun little bar counter. The bars themselves hold maybe 24 cheeks, giving you 12 asses all day.

The interior is ornate, but I believe people are coming here for the conversations rather than the ole' "Oh that place is a really neat spot, you should check it out whenever you can." That's a great thing, though, and exactly what you want out of a Pub. Write it in ink and stamp it: Durty Nelly's can provide some incredible Craic-filled nights when the right people are both in front and behind the bar. Give me a Pub with the Craic vs a fine-looking Pub with a lousy bartender and boring regulars, or even worse; tourists.

For Pub that sits in an area with a healthy amount of tourists, you're not going to find as many under this roof than you will at some of the other bars around, such as the Union Oyster House (tourist trap if you ask me). When we plopped our potatoes on some barstools, we were introduced to a friendly bartender and some obvious locals. I'd imagine it's safe to say we were the only out of towners in here during our brief stay.

They offer a cheap Coca Cola and a steep Guinness, but the pour will probably be a marvelous one if you come during the downtime. You'll find about 5 beers on tap, a tiny TV, and some fun merchandise to go home with. They don't offer food (who cares?) and they're not going to impress any bourbon snobs, but they will offer live music and even live disc jockeys. The music tends to be upbeat with a mix of rock and top 40. Today, we listened to tunes from ACDC to a few relevant ones in today's world from artists I can't name (I'm not very hip on this decade's Top 40 music artists, although I can normally sing along to any of their songs). You're going to come across some Irish roots here, but you're not going to be blown away on anything in particular regarding what many people think of when they envision an "Irish Pub" in their mind. Hey, that's just like, my opinion, man. Don't shoot the messenger.

I like Durty Nelly's. It's quaint and definitely worthy of your time. I'm not going to say it's my favorite Pub out there, but I'd pick it over most. I'm off for a pint at Hennessey's down the street. I'll see you over there.

Thanks, Durty Nelly's. Sorry if today's article was a little concise. Enjoy your evening. Slainte.
