Byrne's Pub is one of those picturesque Pubs. If someone were to tell you to picture an Irish Pub in your head; Byrne's is probably what you'd create in your thoughts if you're someone who thinks about a westernized Pub in the states. The place has marvelous ceiling tiles, worthy furniture, tucked away booths, authentic wall decor, a cozy atmosphere, and good music.

The bartenders pour Guinness the right way and the owners are very respected chaps who are involved within the Columbus community. They stay open until 2:30 in the morning every weekend and their kitchen stays open rather late as well. The food they offer is surprisingly splendid, especially for the low prices given. The Shepherd's pie will only set you back $13 and the chicken wings will tickle your fancy.

Their whiskey selections are above average, and they offer the basics on tap; Guinness, Smithwick's and Harp. The bar itself is rather large and there are a great number of high-top tables behind it for large gatherings and standing room. There are enough TV's for game-days (especially OSU Buckeye games) and there's an updated Golden Tee machine for the athletes.

Byrne's offers perhaps the best place for throwing steel tip darts in the entire Columbus area. They provide 4 dart boards with plenty of space for tournament style throwing. The dart boards overlook a small stage for live events and there are tables in the corner for spectating. Not to mention that the dart throwing area is drop dead gorgeous with worthy wall hangings, fantastic dart board backdrops, and a proper throwing line.

The bathrooms are very well kept and the place as a whole is clean and tidy. Byrne's does a great job giving patron's the touch of both an American style Irish Pub as well as a proper one (heavily emphasizing on the American/western style). There's enough parking for the day-drinkers and it sits in a some-what convenient part of town.

If you're looking for a place to either throw darts, catch up with a buddy, host a large party, or a spot to waste the day watching sports with the locals; then Byrne's should be at the top of your list. There's enough Craic to satisfy a typical Irish Pub enthusiast and the staff is nice and friendly. The service can be a little slow at times but at the end of the day the place really doesn't have many blemishes. You might not find a brogue behind the bar and it may not size up to an old school Pub from Yonkers, but this place is about as good as you can get when it comes to an Irish Pub in Ohio.

A huge recommendation from me.
